GETTING THROUGH CUSTOMS

I pick my memories up

as if from an air port Carousel

but they are not quite

as I remember them

 now lumpy  and heavier

than I recall

they might not even be mine

full of contraband

Ouzing out of concealed

compartments like

corked wine.

Bernard's work has appeared in many publications, including; Aesthetica Magazine and The Edinburgh Review, FourXFour, Crossways, Nymphs, The Gentian. In 2017 a selection of his poetry ‘In Free Fall’ was published by Leaf by Leaf  Press.
